Team Semiconductors, VEX Team 8086A, is a group of friends in Glen Allen, Virginia. This independent team has its roots in two middle school VEX robotics teams. One of those teams was on the Virginia VRC State Championship winning alliance and the other won Programming Skills at the Virginia VRC State Championship to qualify for the 2014 VEX Robotics Middle School World Championship (Toss-Up). Both teams were competitive at the World Championship, with one finishing the qualification matches as the number two ranked team in the Opportunity Division.
Several students from the two teams and their school’s Technology Student Association (TSA) that were moving on to high school and wanted to continue to compete in VEX Robotics banded together to create a new team, Team Semiconductors. Midway through the 2014-2015 season (Skyrise), the team revealed the one-of-a-kind Arty the Dual-Bot. Arty showed the world what the team was capable of, and after winning numerous awards at the regional level, Team Semiconductors went on to win the 2015 World Championship Science Division Create Award.
Winning an award at the World Championship was quite an accomplishment, but is not enough for this team, which has high expectations for itself and a bright future.
